A war which was built mainly on paranoia. And do you really expect US to get over any sort of war, hot or cold and go for a reduction of nuclear bombs - particularly when it is looking at a peaceful country as an adversary....

What is so shithole about being communist? Eastern European countries were financially backward before communism came into power just like India is desperately poor despite democracy and capitalism.

First Gulf war was a turkey shoot as any decent country with decent military could have won with Iraq. And WW2 does not really count because after Soviet invasion of Germany and fall of Hitler counpled with fall of Mussolini, Japan lost its most powerful allies and weakened. It appealed for a conditional surrender but US wanted an unconditional one and it dropped nuclear bombs as an act of mass genocide which fulfilled the additional objective of impressing Stalin before the Yalta Conference.
