Hi guys, as you may have realised I've not been about on rouseindahouse for a while now, well a long while. Having a full time job in my gap year and being at university in Leeds now has made it pretty difficult to give any time to this site and as such, I'm considering selling it.

This at first may sound like a terrible decision, selling out to the man or something but I guess above everything, what I want to see is rouseindahouse to get back onto it's feet again and the only way I feel that'll happen is if somebody has a valid business interest in getting the site back up again. Now, this has been quite a hard decision to come to, it's 5 and a half years now since I thought up rouseindahouse, 5 years since this site was made running on vbulletin at rouseindahouse.com, so obviously this site has been a big part of growing up for me but, at the same time, I'm trying to pursue a career in film and I really don't have time. The last thing I want to see is this site disappear into thin air, particularly with a lot of old faces returning recently, I get that this site was a big thing for a lot of people.

So I guess, I'm just asking how you'd feel if this site was under new onwnership. With me not being round at all anymore, I think it'd be better but with not being around, I can see how my opinion may be skewed.

Anyway, opinions are welcome.

I agree. I asked google how much the site was worth. It's results were all over the map... As much as $260,000 and as little as $110

Well I suppose it is better than letting it disappear, however; I think that it goes through phases of being up and down and right now it seems to be geting on it's feet again. The only concern I have about new ownership is that it may drastically change and be something completely different. If that happens then selling it for the better cause will be....well worse. Is there any possible way you can choose whom you sell to?

In my opinion, it's a good idea to sell to someone affiliated with RIDH, otherwise it could transform into something that will vanish into thin air.

I don't necessarily think there's a risk it'll vanish into thin air, well certainly not less than there is at the moment as whoever does make the purchase will obviously have a vested interest monetary wise in the site succeeding. However, i understand your concerns about it changing but this might be a necessary evil to keep the site around. That said, if it does go to an unknown I'll make him aware of all this, give him this design to finish etc. and I'm sure anybody who has owned a forum in the past will understand how easy it is to get rid of the old faithfuls etc.

As for price I have no idea. I'm really not expecting to make any great deal of money on the site, maybe a bit of money to go towards a decent camera set-up would be good but I can't really see it hitting anything near Cyparagon's higher estimates, definitely somewhat closer to the lower ones - maybe a few thousand? Not sure really. If any member is willing to pay something like that, then by all means that's preferable but if not, I'd prefer to get some money for it as I have put in a great deal of time over the last 5 or so years and would like to get a bit of recouperation on that.

Well obviously you cant let the site hold you back, you do have a life away from here and if you do end up selling it would be a shame but you have to do what you have to do, as long as you dont dissapear entirely.

You've gotta do what you've gotta do in terms of career moves. I had to jack in several forums in the past because I didn't have time to run them. I've gone a full circle though and I work for myself now on a whole bunch of onlnie projects.

I'd be interested to hear a rough price that'd suit you and some basic info on what the site costs to run vs. what the site generates from your current Adsense setup (and any other income).

I like the idea of selling it to someone that may be on RIDH already, in fact that would be fantastic if you could get a buyer! If not though, I understand and I'm sure we'll all be willing to give any changes a try for at least a while. =]
