So a situation came up for Saturday and I was asked if I wanted to take some acid with all of my friends for my friends birthday. I've actually been considering experimenting with acid, but now that my chance is here I'm not sure if I want to do it.

For some reason the idea of doing acid has always scared me. I'm terrified of having a bad trip, I really really don't want to end up doing it and not wanting to be high anymore. I've done that once on E and it wasn't too fun. So, any advice, tips, suggestions, or experiances you'd care to share with me?

i was scared of Acid before i tried it.

i was also scared before i first went swimming too....

i was scared when i first went to art college..

and i was pretty darn scared when i first had sex...

fear and questioning is all part of your instinctive survival thingymajigs....

Acid is one of the substances that i havent had ANY long term or slight side effects...

with shrooms your mind is abit woozy for a while, with weed you just like to chill out and drink tea..

acid made me think, acid used in a productive way (drawing, music, writing etc) will be the greatest experience you can find in the debaucherous scary and eevvviill world that is the drugs culture....

dont do acid with annoying people, i did that, got in a right bad mood, and basically kicked them out the house.....

doing substances ISNT a big decision, you do them or you dont.... but the side effects CAN be great or terrible...

kinda like everything in the world, Substances arent Magical, they arent evil, but they are like most things, they need respect. Acid does need respect, but its a worthy experiment for any experienced user to try

note to others, acid when done alone can be quite creepy, i suggest you have a "trippin' partner", you can rely on each other if **** starts to happen, like the unexpected phone call or even worse...the knock on the door.....

when you first try acid, turn your phone off, put music on so you cant hear the outside world and just relax.

I'll be doing it in a controlled environment with my best friends, who will also be on acid. They have all done it before except me and another friend, so I've got a lot of support if I need it.

So far, plans are that I'm doing it. I'm excited but pretty nervous about it at the same time.

Just a few minor questions though:
Can you sleep on it?
Will you be dragged out the next day?
Is paranoia a side effect? For example, you can easily get paranoid if you smoke weed, it happens to me all the time. But on e, there is nothing that can make you worried or scared. Paranoia and me doesn't usually mix well.
Do you get a feeling of euphoria while on it?
Does you body get any effect at all, or is it all in your head?

Having never tried it, here are some highlights from the wikipedia page:

Can you sleep on it?

Yes, and a damn great sleep it will be..

Will you be dragged out the next day?

depends what time of day you take it, mid day no, late at night...maayybe but, its one of those slight things, ive never gone into a full blown trip the second day, i get associations that remind me of what happened, but they arent trips, people misinterpret them to be..

Is paranoia a side effect?

sometimes overwhelming burdens, fear (not like ganj paranoia) of what your imagination throws at you, and scary interpretations of what your looking at.....but these are rare and can be overcome in a few minutes of chilling out.

Do you get a feeling of euphoria while on it?

yes, like all psychedelics they create an immense content feeling and connection with the world....on higher doses, when done with alot of ganj, you can even experience what i call "ego death" when basically your whole perception just vanishes, in a way you cant explain...long story short its ****ing top dog.

Does you body get any effect at all, or is it all in your head?

as George Harrison says "its all in the mind" Acid doesnt stay in the body like ganj does...it leaves pretty quickly. also LSD is one of the least toxic chemicals known to man. It is less poisonous than aspirin and vitamin C.

once you get the tabs, keep it a dark place, sunlight destroys it

I've been thinking of maybe just taking half a hit tonight, and then if I like it then next time do a full one. But then, will half a hit even do anything? Even though it's my first time and I don't really want the full effect anyway?

dunno, first time i tried it, i took two tabs, after an hour, it was intense but it was worth it. its a bit of a waste if you arnt going to atleast get a good experience. and first time is ALLLLWAYS the best

you cant really judge the doses, because the acid breaks down they will either be standard, or less than standard.

its not that dangerous at all, if youve done shrooms then it will be a walk in the park. Its one of those things that, you just gotta stay in the right mind frame, if you think about it too much, you will ruin it...

why not just take your mind off it, until you do it. have a nice day, have fun with your friends. and then just drop one...if you worry about it too much, it wil just clog your mind and have a crap trip

Statement: Actually, people have been known to suffer flashbacks months after taking the stuff.

There arn't any long term side effects..well not officially anyway but there is the flashback thing which gibs mentioned although i've only heard of that a few times. advise would be if your going to do be sure you want to. If your doubting whether you want to or your shit scared you'll probably have a bad trip.

This is the first hallucinogen I've ever taken, so I don't really know what to expect. I think I'd rather play safe than sorry though tonight and take only half a hit, if I decide to take it at all. I'll just see what happens when I get there and figure out if I'm up for it then. Trying not to think about it too much is hard for me, I over think everything

And I'm not really worried about flashbacks. They're way over exaggerated in most cases, it's just a shock of nostalgia rather than literally hallucinating again.

I havnt tired LSD since i lack the contacts to aquire some but i have had LSA before, in the form of HBWR. Aparently with the right dosage, LSA can be stronger than LSD, though im not sure of this. For me the LSA trip was a good experiance but there are a few things-

---dont go near roads.
---dont go into town.
---if you are out, dont take expensive things with you since when on acid its very easy to put something down and forget about it. I lost 2 bottles of oasis, a can of red bull and a few chocolate bars this way.

Dont think about having a bad trip and i would usually recommend having a few pills if you want to be sure of having a great trip but seeing as you said you had a bad experiance with E then maybe it wouldnt be a good idea. If you want to try LSA just buy some HBWR seeds off the internet. You can even extract the LSA very easily!

No, I wouldn't mix with E your first time, that's a bad idea, as MDMA produces very strong effects when combined with mushrooms/LSD.

It sounds like it should be ok really, you'll have friends around you and whilst you're nervous, at least you're informed and have "some" idea of what to expect. Look up LSD on www.erowid.com there'll be lots of experiences there you can read, if you're interested.

Maybe take half a tab to begin with, and as you have no idea about potency, just see how that goes. Acid lasts quite a while, so if you want to increase your dose you can always drop another half tab or tab after a few hours.

I've never done acid so I can't give first hand experience info, but i've done mushrooms and I guess i know some about psychedelics in general. Your mindset is the most important really; don't expect to be fully in control, but also don't let yourself be totally "taken over" by what you're feeling. Sometimes when people get into more negative mindsets they freakout and get stuck in "loops", you need to just relax into the experience and let go really; flow with it and see where it takes you.

I think you'll have a great time if you do do it, but make sure it's in a good environment; a house and garden would be ok, although to be honest I love tripping "further afield" in nature, so large parks or down by the river and meadows and things. Lovely
