Wasn't it a yank that... I'm not gonna say "invented" electricity. Harnessed it might be a better way of putting it.

Re: anti-Americanism

Hmm America.
Well i don't like it.

I'm not saying i don't like Americans, i just don't like America

I don't like the fact it's in your constitution for guns, to me that just promotes violence but with Bush in such a volatile political position at the moment i guess he can't really do much about it without offending the pro gun lobby his biggest support

I don't like the fact that the USA refuses to cut down on it's fuel emissions and it's passive attitude to global warming
I'm talking political policy rather than individuals

I don't like the way your streets are mapped out

I don't like the fact that people sit there and say I'm from America, people don't like us because everyone else are cowardly and we're the best.

I don't like how people say America won WW1 and WW2 because a) without the other people there America wouldn't have stood a chance, it was a joint effort and also WW2 was a complex battle and strength was needed before Britain and American even stood a chance of pushing Hitler back.

I also don't like some states attitude about Sex Ed and Religion.
To me the way some os the states laws are mapped out seem bizarre and the furthest from the truth

Most of all i really don't like the fact America is so involved in other countries and yet doesn't seem to sort out the most desperate parts of it's country.

I'm not meaning to cause offence, i could produce a list this long about the town i'm from let alone my own country.
I'm just being truthful.
I have a huge problem with how the world is run it's just America is in the news an awful lot condemning other countries without being humble enough about their own

I actually have somewhat of a liking of George Bush.

Considering penny is showing an American flag, I find it odd. Some of the stuff that he/she said was just plain stupid like not liking how the street are mapped out. It also contains a number of contradictions.

Re: anti-Americanism

No unless you count the US embassy in Prague as US Government State property, therefore US soil, therefore I have.

I've met a lot of Americans though. I have no problem with the people.

What I have issues with is your government and what you apparently stand for.

I'm not that eager to set foot on US soil in terms of the country itself but I would if I had to.

EDIT - I'm not eager to visit a country where the leader feels that every person coming in could be a terrorist and has to vigorously screen them and get 30 bits of data about each and every passenger even before the plane has left the ground.

exactly...so saying that you agree with everything she said is null and void considering some of the stuff she said you'd have to have been here to understand

that's utter and complete bullshit.

people who want to come into our country should have to go through backround checks and everything else...just as i wouldn't mind having to do the same to go into any other country.

welcome to coming into the worlds biggest superpower.

Re: anti-Americanism

But why? If I travel to China or India, I just fill in a form on the plane before landing and I know what is being said.

If I visit USA, data about me is given to US immigration before the plane is allowed to leave the ground.

It was a major news issue for a while.

Re: anti-Americanism

There is hate for UK, England in particular. Remember the bombings on the London Transport network on 7th July 2005? All conducted by legal British citizens.

There is hate for Spain. Remember the bombings on the Madrid Transport Network in March 2004?

What have England and Spain done to protect themselves? Not a lot really because we're used to terrorism. Does the IRA or Basec Separatists mean anything to you? Home grown terrorists!

On 11th September 2001, some muppets decided to fly a few planes into your buildings and suddenly your pulling out the stops to get rid of these evil people.

While terrorist attacks happen in other countries, I consider your reaction to 9/11 over the top and shameful. There was no need to invade Iraq or Afghanistan, all it has done is fuel more anger in the Muslim world for the West, USA in particular.

Re: anti-Americanism

i understand that...but why add more fuel to the fire.

in thinking that "well we have terrorists here anyways...so we might as well let more in" is arrogant. adding gasoline to a fire isn't going to make people around it feel better...

Re: anti-Americanism

Exactly, by attacking the Middle East you have fuelled a small fire into a roaring inferno

You can't go through the passenger list on a plane, picking off the Muslims and assuming that they're going to be a terrorist.
