Re: guy defending saddam

i understand that but i dont think that an AMERICAN should be defending saddam in an IRAQI trail just because he opposses the war in Iraq- i dont particularily like the war either but saddam is evil- he does nto even feel remorse for what he did

Re: guy defending saddam

I wouldn't say he's a traitor, why do you think he's 'going against the whole country'? Saddam is entitled to representation like everyone else is and Ramsey Clark has the experience considering he was involved in the Milosevic trial.

Re: guy defending saddam

If he's being tried for war crimes in Iraq on the Iraqi people, why should it matter that he's being represented by an American. Everybody is entitled to representation and as far as what he's being tried for, America isn't involved.

i dont think that any american should be defending saddam. our counrty went to war with them....that would be like a frenchman/english/american defending a nazi after wwII...its just not right, and its undermining what our ****ing troops went into iraq for! he should just go spit on an american soldier while he's at it

Re: guy defending saddam

Who else would defend him if not somebody from the US. It's just a qualified country as any other in my view.

Re: guy defending saddam

Couldn't it be just as equally said though that iraqi lawyers defending him is equally insane. After all he's being tried for war crimes against Iraq.

Well that really depends on what you think the troops actually did go into Iraq for. The offical story is to unseat a dictator and install 'freedom & democracy', if that's what you think then surely an American would be the best choice? America has took it upon itself to make sure the job is done properly and that means ensuring freedom and justice in court. Acting independently of the government to ensure justice in the Saddam trial is hardly being a traitor, Ramsey Cark is just aware of the various emotional and nationalistic biases that relate to the trial; he doesn't think justice should only apply to people you like.

If anyone has spat on the US armed forces it's the current administration. Do you really think the soliders wanted to be flown halfway across the world to die for someone else's freedom?
